About me
Kathy Kleczek has a deep love for her home in the Pacific Northwest, having traveled and experienced many places around the globe before settling there. Growing up bilingual in Germany, experiencing a culture that embraces active transportation modes as an adolescent influenced her view of mobility choices. As a land use and transportation planner, working in the field of transportation options, she has seen how mobility options make the world more accessible for everyone. A device that is a luxury to one person could be a lifeline to another. She works to break down boundaries through human interaction to lead to better understanding of commonalities.Currently, working with the Department of Land Conservation and Development in the Transportation and Growth Management program she works to connect the dots and help make the connections between enhancing transportation choices and land use planning. Previously, Kathy worked as a Transportation Options Specialist operating NW Transportation Options. In this position, she led outreach and education about the benefits of multimodal access in the Northwest region of Oregon. She guided conversations with employers and community groups to explore vanpooling and enhancing safety for active transportation throughout the region. As a member of the NW Area Commission on Transportation, she advocates for bicycle and pedestrian safety and infrastructure. While leading the North Coast Tourism Management Network’s Transportation Options Committee, she spearheaded efforts to create a Car-Free Travel guide in English and Spanish. In a region reliant on tourism, having choices beyond car transportation is key to establishing a sustainable environment for visitors and residents alike.Kathy Kleczek has a deep love for her home in the Pacific Northwest, having traveled and experienced many places around the globe before settling there.
