Lake Strongheart McTighe is a principal transportation planner at Metro, the regional government and Metropolitan Planning Organization for the greater Portland region. At Metro, Lake focuses on street design, transportation safety and active transportation, developing plans and policies to make multimodal travel safe and accessible for everyone. Lake is currently managing Metro’s Safe Streets for All Program, working with community and jurisdictional partners to develop strategies and actions to reduce deaths and serious injuries from traffic crashes. Lake has led teams to develop Metro’s Designing Livable Streets and Trails design guidelines, the Regional Transportation Safety Strategy and the Regional Active Transportation Plan. Lake has a master’s degree in urban and regional planning and bachelor’s degrees in political science and painting.
